What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is expected to be a space safe for you to seek help and express yourself, with ethical boundaries all parties consent to prior to treatment. Treatment lasts anywhere from 3 months to 3+ years, it's dependent on your needs, the goals you're working towards, and life circumstances. Your therapist can be a source of support, information, encouragement, and compassionate understanding. Therapy is private and confidential, consent and confidentiality are always discussed prior to the start of treatment to establish safe, therapeutic boundaries.

How do I know if a therapist is right for me?

Understanding your own expectations of therapy is important to discuss with your potential provider to determine if they are the right fit for you. If you have ever been in treatment before, what worked for you? What didn't work for you? If this is your first time seeking treatment, what are you hoping for? What are your reservations in seeking treatment? Booking a consultation to ask questions and talk about what you're looking for is a great first step to help yourself!
